Scrim Tape is a glass fibre reinforcing mesh that is used for strengthening joints in plasterboard prior to applying a skim finish.

Scrim tape should be applied just before the skim process.

Avoid overlapping lengths of scrim tape in case one is caught by the trowel when applying the skim coat

On ceiling and flexible wall such as stud walls in which a door is fitted, place a square of scrim over each screw or mail head to prevent the plaster popping when the plaster is dry.

Scrim tape can also be used to help a novice plaster divide a large wall in to managable sections. Once removed, the tape provides a plaster edge up to which the next section can be seamlessly plastered
