Work Platforms

Work platforms

These notes support the Painting and Decorating Course run by The DIY School in the North West in Stockport near Manchester.

You will inevitably have to use some form of step up during any decorating project.

The most common and practical tool is a simple work platform. It is easy to move around and if used in a pair with scaffold boards provides a wide and stable platform along which to hang paper on a ceiling.

Decorators’ ladders often are of the type that can be used on stairs. Again used in pairs they can help to produce a platform on a flight of stairs that makes stair wells safe to work on and accessible.

If you can buy a step ladder with a tool tray attachment all the better especially if it will hold a paint kettle.
